REMOVABLE PARTIAL DENTURE

A removable partial denture (RPD) is for a partially edentulous dental patient who desires to have replacement teeth for functional or aesthetic reasons, and who cannot have a bridge (a fixed partial denture) for any number of reasons, such as a lack of required teeth to serve as support for a bridge.
The reason why this type of prosthesis is referred to as a removable partial denture is because patients can remove and reinsert them when required.

Removable partial bridgework can be less expensive, but non removable partial dentures and fixed bridgework will feel more stable and usually are more comfortable.

In many cases, the only treatment plan option that makes sense is a removable bridge. Bemovable dentures can be of many types like:

Cast Partial Denture: With a metal framework

Flexible Dentures

Semi-Rigid Removable Dentures

Acrylic Removable Dentures

The framework can attach to the natural teeth with clasps. Also in some cases precision attachments can provide superior support, stability, comfort and cosmetics for patients who need removable partial denture treatment.

Dr. Jayanthi.N and her staff can show you examples of both kinds of removable bridgework and help you decide which is the best choice for you.
